Free The Chicken Foundation

It has come to my attention that one of the most abused creatures on Planet Earth is the humble CHICKEN.  It's time to stop the genocide!  What is the lifespan of a chicken?  No one really knows, because most of them are murdered about six to eight weeks after hatching.

What few female chickens who survive after 12 weeks are forced to lay eggs.  Their eggs are stolen from their nests, put in incubators for hatching.  More deplorable than this, is that millions of the eggs are put into boxes and stored in refrigerators.  The eggs are retrieved, the protective shells cracked and the chicken fetus is dropped into hot grease where it is cooked solid!  This the same as abortion, folks!  When it comes to chickens, choose PRO LIFE!

Humans are taught as children to
steal chicken fetuses

The cooked chicken fetus is then retrieved from the frying pan, slid on a plate alongside a couple strips of pig bacon or ground pig flesh formed into a patty.  Both children and adults proceed to DEVOUR the chicken fetus and pig flesh!  The disgusting practice must be stopped!

The chicken reaches adulthood faster than nature intended by being fed growth hormones.  So much so, that domesticated chickens have gotten so fat they no longer have the ability to fly!

Chickens are healthy creatures.  Breeders feed them antibiotics to keep them from getting sick.  Perhaps President Bush could take a lesson from chicken breeders and establish a national health care plan for Americans.  Most chickens will never feel the sunshine or walk on real grass because of their being confined to cages.

To my left is a shameful example of what humans do to chickens.  The chicken's head is cut off while it is alive.  A quick slash down the belly and the entrails are yanked out.  The chicken is then dipped in boiling water, where it remains for a few minutes.  Once removed, the feathers are jerked out of the birds body and the feet are cut off.  I'm going to be sick if I continue with these details, so I shall desist.

The chicken to my left is SCREAMING for freedom!  In China over one billion chickens are suffering genocide each year.  In the United States, another billion or so are enslaved.  We MUST free the chicken!  Gator's Den calls for the IMMEDIATE release of ALL chickens world wide.  They MUST be released to live in the forests, hills, valleys and meadowlands of the world.

FREE AT LAST * FREE AT LAST!

Hey Gator -

Thanks for bringing attention to the critical issue.    ;)

Regarding chicken longevity, http://ulisse.cas.psu.edu/pa4h/embryoquestion.html (Item #15) indicates 6-10 year (22 years if they have "special mightiness").  I seem to remember the Old Farmer's Almanac as listing 25 years in captivity.

Currently my two (pet) chickens, Zoë and Macy, are about 5 years 9 months old.  Zoë is quite hardy and still lays eggs on occasion.  We thought Macy might move on about 6 months ago, but she's still hanging on, eating well and waddling about the yard (she seems to have some type of abdomen distending problem).

We started with 6 (this time around, we had 4 -1 +6 -8 -1 previously).  I always find it uncomfortable when people say cruel things about the chickens ("Sorry about your chicken dying; the funeral must have been delicious").

If  you think for one split-second that your treatise on the abused life of a chicken is going to stop me from frequenting KFC or Popeyes or Church's, you are badly mistaken.  Chicken pot-pie, chicken salad, fried chicken, BBQ chicken, roast chicken, chicken fingers, chicken fricassee, chick paprika's, chicken soup -- all are still in my diet.  Have you forgotten that Jehovah gave man dominion over the animals?

Becca from Florida says:

I take it you don't eat chicken. I remember watching my grandpa ring the chickens neck as a child. I used to cry. But when grandma fried it up it tasted damn good. No one could fry up a chicken like my grandma. Should I stop eating chicken? I used to have a farm and I never killed my chickens but I did eat their eggs.
