A stubborn young girl just in her teens
Went up in a plane.
Her mommy and daddy said "Sue" don
't go
But she laughed in their faces
And away she flew.

They waved at her and said "Good-bye"
As they saw the plain soaring high.
But to their surprise they did not know
That very nicely snuggled within
Was a nice young man with dimple chin.

When they landed in another town
The first they did was look around.
They looked this way and that way
Till at last they found
A sign that a minister around.

Then hand in hand they rushed right in
Soon the service did begin.
A ring was given
A knot was tied
She was a smiling, happy bride.

The return from a run away trip
What would they hear from mom
's own lips?
They imagined this and imagined that
But they were prepared to take the rap.
Arrival at home expected a trap.

To their greatest surprise
With tears in their eyes.
They expected a scolding when they arrived.
Jinks and his runaway bride.

A wedding cake awaited them
A generous feast and plenty of flowers.
A hug and a kiss from mom and dad
Coming home was the only son they ever had.
